CAIRO - 12 November 2020: The Russian ambassador to Egypt, Georgi Borisenko, expressed his happiness at his participation in the series of evenings of the "Cultural Relations" initiative, which is being held at Egypt's Supreme Council of Culture, which confirms the depth of cultural relations between Egypt and Russia, pointing out the importance of building bridges of communication between the two brotherly people of Egypt and Russia, and the continuation of the exchange of joint cooperation in all fields, the most important of which is the cultural field.

 

This came during the series of evenings of the "Cultural Relations" initiative, in celebration of  Russia, which is organized by the Foreign Cultural Relations  at the Supreme Council for Culture.

 

Russian Ambassador Georgi Borisenko affirmed that the bilateral relations between the Russian and Egyptian sides are witnessing a qualitative leap thanks to the great support provided by Egypt's President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and President Vladimir Putin, President of Russia.

 

In concluding his speech, he explained that it was decided to postpone the celebration of the Russian-Egyptian Cultural Year for upcoming year, due to the COVID-19 pandemic that struck the whole world.

 

He also praised the joint efforts between the two sides in facing the unfortunate global pandemic. 

 

The Russian Ambassador also referred to Russia's cooperation with Egypt regarding the production of the new Russian drug to battle COVID-19.

 

Ambassador Ezzat Saad said that Egypt is Russia's largest economic and trade partner in the African continent and the Middle East.

 

He also explained that the cultural exchange between the two sides was diversified in the past. 

 

Saad further stated that today, both brotherly people need to particularly deepen cultural relations, pointing to the importance of scholarships offered annually by Russian universities to Egyptian students, which total more than one hundred scholarships.
