CAIRO – 8 November 2020: The Bayt al-Suhaymi Creativity Center - affiliated to the Cultural Development Fund Sector - on Al-Muizz Street, will host on November 10 at 7 p.m. the theatrical performance "Red Dress", by the "Basma" group for community and interactive theater.
The show deals with issues of community violence (circumcision, harassment, early marriage and domestic violence), the status of women, and the enhancement of their status and role in society.
The show is the result of a 6-month workshop on how to utilize arts, especially performing arts, to address social issues and bring about positive changes at the psychological and social level, both for the audience and the work team, through trainees standing for the first time on stage.
It is worth noting that the Bayt al-Suhaymi or the house of Sheikh Abd al-Wahhab al-Tablawi is an Arab house with distinctive eastern architecture located in the Darb al-Asfar neighborhood branching from al-Muizz Li Din Allah al-Fatimi Street in the Gamaliya district in the heart of Cairo.
