Egypt’s Plastic Artists Syndicate calls on members wishing to run for State Awards to apply

CAIRO – 3 November 2020: Egypt’s Plastic Artists Syndicate called on its members wishing to compete for the State Awards to present their papers to the Syndicate.

This is based on the letter sent from the Supreme Council of Culture to  Safiya el-Qabbani, head of Plastic Artists Syndicate, regarding the Syndicate's nomination of creative Egyptian and Arab artists for the various state awards (Nile, Excellence, Appreciation Awards) in the fields of arts, literature and social sciences.

Requirements for nomination for the branches of the awards (Nile - Appreciation - Excellence):

-   To be an Egyptian citizen (except for the Nile Award for Arab Creators)

-  The candidate must be alive at the time of his nomination for the award, otherwise the nomination will be considered void.

-  The nomination must be through the board of the nominating entity, with the date of the council’s meeting, and the number of the session in which the nomination was approved. The nomination shall be considered void if it is made by means of delegation.

-  The nomination shall be within the scope of specialization of the entity that is in charge of the nomination

-  The Appreciation Award must be limited to only one candidate for any of the branches for which the award is designated, and every nomination made otherwise is invalidated.

-  Those in charge of the nominating entity, chairmen of its boards of directors, its boards of trustees, or any of the ministers at the time of their assumption of responsibility must not be among the nominees for these awards.

-  In the event that a person is nominated for more than one award, he/she shall be nominated for the higher award. If the two prizes nominated for them are equal, the previous nomination shall be considered according to the date of receiving the nomination papers for the Council, unless the candidate expresses a desire otherwise.
