“An el-Oshak” play to be re-staged in Prince Taz Palace until Nov. 2

CAIRO – 29 October 2020: After the great success it achieved in its first performance, Egypt’s Minister of Culture Inas Abdel Dayem decided to re-stage the play “An el-Oshak” (About Lovers) daily at 7 p.m. in Prince Taz Palace and runs until November 2.

The play is inspired by the novel “Touq al-Hamama” by Ibn Hazem el-Andalusi. The play is a mixture between classical Arabic and scenes in Egyptian colloquial language, Andalusian texts and selections from late Umm Kulthum's most famous works.

Prince Taz Palace is a historical architectural masterpiece in the heart of Cairo, a few meters away from the Citadel of Salah al-Din. 

The palace was built by Prince Saif al-Din Abdullah Taz bin Qatgaj, one of the prominent princes in the Mamluk state in 1352 AD.
