Egypt’s Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities, under the leadership Khaled el-Enani, is keen on constant coordination and cooperation with the Ministry of Youth and Sports, through the cooperation of the two ministries in implementing many international events.
The drawing ceremony of the 27th edition of the 2021 World Handball Championship for Men and the Egyptian International Open Squash Championship [for men and women], which was hosted by Egypt from October 10 - 17 in the pyramids area.
Hosting major sports events in archaeological sites aims to highlight Egypt's unique cultural features and sheds light on the fact that sport was an essential part of the ancient Egyptian civilization.
Sports tournaments that are organized abroad, especially those in which sports champions participate, must be taken advantage of to internationally market tourism in Egypt by displaying promotional tourist films about Egyptian tourist destinations and major archaeological projects, including the Grand Egyptian Museum, set to be inaugurated in 2021. This is in addition to distributing promotional materials on archaeological and tourist sites in Egypt, and sponsoring major sports tournaments, especially when Egypt participates in the finals.
During the meeting, the Minister of Tourism and Antiquities expressed the ministry's readiness to participate with the Ministry of Youth and Sports in major international tourism exhibitions by contributing to presenting the components of Egypt’s sports and the agenda of sports events. Promotional materials are set to highlight sports tourism spots in Egypt. Egypt’s Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities is also keen to get other ministries to participate in such events.
