CAIRO – 13 October 2020: Egypt’s culture minister will inaugurate the 59th session of Cairo Salon held under the title "The Aura and Uniqueness in Contemporary Egyptian Art" on October 13 at 7 p.m.

The inauguration will be attended by Head of the Fine Arts Sector Khaled Sorour, and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Fine Arts Lovers Association Ahmed Nawar.

The exhibition will run until November 3 and will be held in cooperation between the Fine Arts Lovers Association and the Fine Arts sector. More than 80 male and female artists will participate in the fields of drawing, photography, sculpture, ceramics, video art, installation in space and photography.

During the salon, nine artists from the pioneers of the Egyptian plastic art movement will be honored, namely Atiyat Sayed, Zainab el-Seginy, Rabab Nimer, Tariq Zebadi, Mustafa Abdel Moty, Medhat Nasr, George el-Bahgoury and Ahmed Abdel Wahab.

Cairo Salon is the oldest artistic activity in Egypt, as its first session was held in 1921.

The association works to revive and develop the salon in light of the same value that it started with. Through the previous sessions, the salon presented serious experiences to new artists in various fields of plastic arts. It introduces a great variety of artistic trends, styles, techniques, and art schools.

It is noteworthy that the Cairo Salon launches the resumption of artistic activities at the Palace of Arts, as it is the first cultural event to be hosted at the Palace of Arts in eight months.

The 41st edition of the public exhibition, entitled "An Invitation to Romance", which was inaugurated by Khaled Sorour in February 2020, was the last event the palace hosted before the halt of cultural activities.
