CAIRO – 16 September 2020: Egypt’s Minister of Culture Inas Abdel Dayem convened with Spain’s Ambassador to Egypt and the Spanish Cultural Counselor in Cairo to discuss ways to support joint cultural and artistic cooperation during the coming period amid the coronavirus pandemic.
Abdel Dayem emphasized the strength and depth of relations between Egypt and Spain, noting the European country's richness in historical and contemporary creativity, and the emotional and cultural convergence between the two nations.
She added that the two sides agreed on the need to support cultural and artistic exchange between the two countries during the coming period by implementing a number of innovative projects using modern technological means to overcome the challenges that the COVID-19 pandemic has imposed. Abdel Dayem welcomed the proposals made by the Spanish ambassador.
The Egyptian culture minister emphasized that the contributions made by the two countries to human civilization in various fields continue to lay down the path of knowledge for successive generations.
For his part, the Spanish ambassador affirmed he closely follows the achievements of the cultural movement in Egypt. He praised the measures taken by the Egyptian Ministry of Culture to carry out its mission amid the exceptional circumstances that the world is going through due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
He added that his country is keen on boosting cultural and artistic communication with Egypt, as it is a pivotal country rich in diverse creativity. The Spanish ambassador to Egypt expressed his desire to exchange artistic and cultural content with Egypt by broadcasting a number of artistic/cultural performances on the e-platforms of the Egyptian Ministry of Culture and its official YouTube channel.
This is in addition to participating in the cultural relations initiative launched by Egypt’s Minister of Culture to shed light on the cultural ties between Egypt and Spain, which contributes to promoting the idea of intercultural dialogue.
