CAIRO – 20 August 2020: Director Khaled Galal, head of the Cultural Production Affairs Sector, announced that 68 contestants, with 75 new national songs, submitted to participate in "Ana Al-Masry" competition for the national song in its third season, after counting the works of the contestants that were received by the sector throughout the competition period, which ended on August 15.
Galal said that the winners will be announced and honored during the sector’s celebration of this year's glorious October victories, as has been the case during the past two seasons, in the presence of a large constellation of leaders of the Egyptian Ministry of Culture and media outlets.
The competition is held under the patronage of Egypt’s Minister of Culture Inas Abdel Dayem and within the activities of the ministry's initiative "Stay at home - Culture is Between Your Hands", which was launched by the ministry in March 2020.
The competition takes place in the branches of singing, composing, song writing and music distribution.
This year, the sector offers five monetary prizes, the first prize is LE 20,000, the second prize is LE 15,000, the third prize is LE 10,000, the fourth prize is LE 7,000, and the fifth prize is LE 5,000.
It is noteworthy that during the first and second seasons of the competition, 10 singers of national songs won, namely Rabab Nagi, Sherif Abdel Moneim, Manar el-Shazly, Amira Reda, Aya Abdullah, Mohamed Salah Mohamed, Moamen Ahmed Khalil, Nadine Ahmed al-Amrousi, Rania Hafez and Hosni Metwally.
The jury members include a group of stars of composing, poetry and singing, such as Medhat Saleh, opera singer Tahia Shams el-Din, poet Awad Badawy, musician Hany Shenouda, singer Mohamed el-Helw, musician Rajeh Daoud, poet Tamer Hussein, composer Amr Mostafa and singer Mai Farouk.
