Egypt’s Ahmed Mourad meets fans at Al-Rihab’s Clip Stationary House to sign "Lokandet Bir Al-Wattawit" on Aug. 17

CAIRO – 16 August 2020: Famed Egyptian writer and novelist Ahmed Mourad is meeting with his fans on Aug. 17 (from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.) at the Clip Stationary House in the eastern market B76 in Al-Rehab city, to sign his latest book, "Locandet Bir Al-Wattawit", issued by Dar Al-Shorouk.

With a novel belonging to the literature of crime and mystery, and diaries dating back to 1865 found buried and well preserved behind the wall of room number seven on the third floor of the building “Locandet Bir Al-Wattawit”, the young writer and screenwriter, Ahmed Mourad, returns to his readers two years after his novel “Mosem Said El Ghezlan” (The Deer Hunting Season), to tell them the story of the dead photographer Suleiman Effendi Al-Sioufi, the protagonist who suffers from a psychological disorder. The Egyptian state demand him to track down a serial killer who succeeded in eliminating a group of its men, to begin his mission knowing that he will be the new victim of the killer.

Ahmed Mourad's literary journey was launched in 2007 with his first novel "Vertigo" which achieved tremendous success. It also won the Mediterranean Cultural Award from Italy in 2013. It was turned into a TV series that aired in 2012.

“Vertigo” was then followed by Murad’s novel “Torab Almas” (Diamond Dust) in 2010, which topped the best-selling lists for a long time.

In 2012, he presented his third novel, "The Blue Elephant", which was shortlisted for the International Prize for Arabic Fiction (Booker Award) in 2014, the same year that his fourth novel “1919” was published, so that the reader leaps with great mastery into the fiery furnace of the 1919 revolution.

Mourad then released the novel “Ard Allah” (The Land of God) in 2016, with events taking place in ancient Egypt, following a secret from the secrets of the ancients, cleverly hidden between the lines of the most sacred books of Egyptian civilization, before returning from the past to the future in his sixth novel "The Deer Hunting Season" in 2017. In the same year, Murad won the Egyptian State Award for Excellence in Literature.
