Egypt’s culture min. casts her vote in Senate elections on Aug. 11

CAIRO – 11 August 2020: Egypt’s Minister of Culture Inas Abdel Dayem said that the Senate comes to balance the legislative life in Egypt, and is a confirmation of the success of the Egyptian state after June 30 Revolution to build its institutions and complete the march towards a better future.

This came after Abdel Dayem cast her vote on Tuesday in the Senate elections at Abu Bakr Al-Siddiq Experimental School in Sheikh Zayed.

Abdel Dayem explained that the second legislative chamber represented in the Senate is one of the pillars of the democratic process in Egypt, which is necessary for the development of the nation.

The minister urged citizens to shoulder responsibility for building a better future for Egypt and participate in the elections to choose the best representative for their area.

It is noteworthy that about 63 million Egyptian voters registered in the database are entitled to vote in the 2020 Senate elections, distributed among 14,092 sub-committees, with full judicial supervision and with the participation of 18,000 judges - basic and reserve - and the assistance of 120,000 employees.

Voting for Egyptians abroad took place by mail in 124 countries on August 9 and 10 at 9 p.m. according to the local time of each country, while elections are held Egypt on August 11 and 12.

The counting process will take place within the subcommittees, with the final results announced for the first round of the Senate elections on August 16.

According to the final list of candidates, 787 candidates are competing in the single system in 27 counties for 100 seats.
