CAIRO – 25 June 2020: In light of the resumption of tourist movement to Egypt as of early July, the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities has chosen a number of archaeological sites and museums to reopen in the first stage in preparation for the gradual reopening of all museums and sites.
Secretary General of the Supreme Council of Antiquities Mostafa Waziri said that these museums and sites include five museums: The Nubian Museum, Luxor Museum, Egyptian Museum in Tahrir, Museum of Islamic Art and The Coptic Museum. This is in addition to eight archaeological sites including Abu Simbel Temples, Philae Temple, Karnak and Luxor Temples, Deir el-Bahary Temple, Valley of the Kings, the Pyramids Archeological Area and Salah el-Din Citadel in Cairo.
