CAIRO - 10 June 2020: The General Secretariat of the Arab Writers Union expressed appreciation of the Cairo Declaration to end the Libyan political conflict and resist Turkish interference in Libya.

The Egyptian role was described by the General Secretariat of the Arab Writers Union as supportive of the unity of the Arab soil, and rejecting foreign interference in the Arab lands and everything that affects the independence and comprehensive sovereignty of Libya over its territory, whatever the excuses and justifications may be. The General Secretariat stressed that Egypt plays a central role in resolving the crisis.

In a statement, President of the Arab Writers Union Alaa Abdel-Hadi said that the General Secretariat of the union asserts that any political conflict between Arab brothers in general or between an Arab people of one homeland in particular cannot be solved by war or by depending on a non-Arab country.

The General Secretariat also confirms that any political decision in Libya is an internal matter of the Libyan people, and that the only way that leads to the unity of the Libyan state is a Libyan-Libyan dialogue that is based on rejecting war, and working to reach a comprehensive national reconciliation between the different Libyan parties, taking into consideration preserving the gains made for the Libyan citizen through the different historical stages.
