CCC celebrates 64th anniversary of fruitful relationships with Egypt through launching competition

CAIRO - 18 May 2020: The Chinese Cultural Center in Cairo, in cooperation with the Radio and Television Magazine and the China Magazine, is organizing on May 18 a competition entitled "Me and China" in press writing, which seeks to enhance the bond between the two countries that have ancient roots.

This competition, which started in 2018, will be held in 2020 on the occasion of the 64th anniversary of the establishment of the diplomatic relations between China and Egypt, under the title "A New Century and the Civilization of Two Rivers", in search of a new state of harmony that will hopefully benefit the relations between the two countries.

The competition should address topics related to China in the fields chosen by the contestants, and the works should be characterized by a real feeling and strong literary formulation, avoiding headlines for controversial events.

In addition, the competition is open to all writers in Egypt, whether from the printed press or websites, writers, intellectuals and readers. It includes various styles of media writing including analytical articles, stories, travel notes and testimonies on important events in China.

Furthermore, the contest's topics must be written in Arabic with a minimum of 700 words and a maximum of 2000 words for one topic. The topic participating in the competition must not be previously published. Each contestant is allowed to participate in the competition with only one topic.

Each contestant must attach their full name and a copy of their national ID card in addition to their contact information. The competition is open until June 30, 2020.

It is worth mentioning that all the submitted works will not be returned to their owners, and every file not attached with the owner’s name will be excluded.

Organizers initially choose the top 20 topics among applicants, and the jury then meets to select the top ten award-winning topics. The remaining ten contestants will receive the Encouraging Award.

The awards for the selected topics that will be announced in a special ceremony come as follows:

-The grand prize: The winners of the first and second places will receive a 5-day trip to China.

-The first prize is worth LE 20,000 and will be granted to the winner of the third place.

-The second prize is worth LE 15,000 and will be granted to the winners of the fourth and fifth places.

-The third prize is worth LE10,000 and will be granted to the winners who made to the sixth, seventh, eighth ninth and 10th places.

-The Encouragement Award will be granted to the winners of the 11th to the 20th places. Each winner will be granted L.E 2,000.

The winning topics will also be published in the Radio and Television magazine and China Today magazine through various issues.

The winners will receive their prizes, thereby obtaining their full rights. The organizer has the right to publish the winning topics in a book without additional material rights for its authors.
