Enjoy a guided video tour for the first Key of the holy Ka’aba, made of copper inlaid with silver. This video tour is brought to you by Egypt's Ministry of Tourism & Antiquities.
This key belongs to the Mamluk sultan al-Ashraf Sha’ban, it is considered to be the oldest existing specimen ever seen for keys of the Ka’aba.
Verses from the part of the holy Quran is inscribed on the key from Surat al-Fath as well as the name and titles of sultan al-Ashraf Sha’ban.
It’s attributed to 765 AH /1363 -1364 AD.
