CAIRO – 22 June 2017: Beloved Lebanese singer Fairuz is releasing a new album on September 22, titled “Bebaly” (“In My Mind”).
The iconic singer released the first single from the album, “Lameen” (“To Whom”), on Tuesday. The song is dedicated to the memory of her late husband, veteran Lebanese composer, musician and producer Assi Rahbani, according to Fairuz’s official Facebook page.
“Lameen”’s melody was inspired by ‘’Pour Qui Veille L’Etoile’’ (”Who is watching the stars”), a song by the famous French singer Gilbert Becaud, and its lyrics were written by Fairuz’s daughter, Rima Rahbani, who is also the album’s producer.
Fairuz’s last album, “Eeh Fe Amal” (“Yes There is Hope”), was released in 2010, and her last concert was in Beirut, also in 2010.
Fairuz, 81, is one of the best-known and loved Arab singers of all time. Famous for her soft, angelic voice, Fairuz’s fans have many nicknames for their star, such as Ambassador to the Stars, Ambassador of the Arabs, the Moon’s Neighbor, the Jewel of Lebanon and others, as a sign of their deep adoration and respect to her.
