Egypt’s Ministry of Culture’s Ramadan agenda of activities

CAIRO - 22 April 2020: Egypt’s Minister of Culture Inas Abdel Dayem announced the Ramadan agenda, which comes under the umbrella of the e-initiative “Stay At Home, Culture is Between Your Hands”.

Abdel Dayem stressed the importance of completing the digital transformation of all sectors, which contributes effectively to the delivery of the enlightening message of the Egyptian culture, despite the critical situation the country is currently undergoing amid the COVID-19 outbreak

Egyptian Minister of Culture Abdel Dayem added that to celebrate the month of Ramadan, a digital agenda has been prepared, the content of which will be broadcast on the official YouTube channel of the Ministry of Culture, and its various official social media platforms.

Ramadan agenda includes a set of registered activities and competitions that aim to enrich the general knowledge of Egyptians of different ages, as well as activities specialized for children.

She added that many presentations aiming at preserving the Egyptian identity, developing awareness and highlighting the role of creativity in building human beings were carefully selected, in addition to numerous spiritual evenings that befit the religious atmosphere of the holy month of Ramadan.

It is noteworthy that the digital agenda also presents the following activities of the various sectors of the Ministry of Culture:

Supreme Council of Culture

The Supreme Council of Culture has prepared a series of intellectual meetings within the program “Read with Us” that hosts a selection of creators from Egypt and the Arab countries, including Tunisia, Morocco, Jordan, Sudan, Palestine and Saudi Arabia.

Egyptian National Library and Archives

The Egyptian National Library and Archives prepared a collection of historical documents on the procedures that were followed in Egypt during the month of Ramadan, in addition to another file called Ramadan Periodicals, which includes a number of press releases on various topics about the Holy Month.

Also, the Egyptian National Library and Archives prepared a religious, and cultural competition for children aged from 9-12 years old, entitled "A Question Everyday", prepared by the Children's Literature Research Center.

The competition will be held from Ramadan 1-27, where a question will be published daily on the official Facebook account of the center.

General Egyptian Book Organization

The General Egyptian Book Organization, headed by Haitham al-Hag, provided readings of a selection of important books, and a group of rare seminars on art, thought, and literature pioneers during the activities of the Cairo International Book Fair through its editions on the official website of the Egyptian Ministry of Culture.

Egyptian Opera House

The Egyptian Opera House, headed by Magdy Saber, presents a number of spiritual evenings accompanied by the Cairo Opera Orchestra and the Arab Music Ensemble, with the participation of a selection of opera stars.

Cultural Production Sector and Cultural Development Fund

The Cultural Production Sector and the Cultural Development Fund will launch a competition entitled “Fawazir Cinema Masr” (Riddles of Egypt Cinema), where scenes from the most famous movies will be performed by youth of the second batch of the Talent Studio at the Creative Center.

The contestant must know the name of the movie, director, author and the participating heroes, and send the answer to the ministry's e-mail: e.m.culture@gmail.com.

The Ministry of Culture will present to the winners ten prizes worth LE 50,000, in addition to other prizes consisting of book collections.

The National Center for Theater, Music and Folklore

The National Center for Theater, Music and Folklore offers a series of episodes entitled “Helwa Beladi” which addresses the journey of a group of folk art pioneers.

The Egyptian Film Center

The Egyptian Film Center provides rare documentaries about many of Egypt's icons and the historical events that formed the modern history of the country, especially the glorious October war.

The National Center for Child Culture

The National Center for Child Culture broadcasts daily on its official YouTube channel a variety of activities that aim to develop the cognitive capabilities of children. Also, various programs that target raising the children's awareness of important topics will be broadcast, in addition to “Al-Mesaharati”, “Lulu” and “Mora” riddles, which aim to enrich the knowledge of new generations.
