CAIRO - 12 April 2020: As part of the art treasures that the Ministry of Culture is presenting on its YouTube channel, the ministry will broadcast on April 14 "Carmen" and "Tango Ballet" for the Cairo Opera Ballet Band at 9 p.m.

These gems are set to be followed by the play “Ragol el-Kala’” (Citadel Man), written by Abul-Ela el-Salamouni and directed by Nasser Abdel Moneim.

"Carmen Ballet" was developed and composed by French world-star musician Georges Bizet, and is set in Seville in 1830. The play revolves around a gypsy girl named Carmen, who seduces men. As she lures Corporal Jose Navarro, who adored her, she turned him from a simple obedient policeman to an outlaw, after she made him join a group of smugglers working with her to be led by his sweeping love to the death yard.

Furthermore, "the Tango Ballet", composed by Astor Piazzolla and Leroy Anderson, includes a set of scenes that combine classic and modern ballet with tango dances inspired by the nature and history of the Argentine capital, Buenos Aires, forming an innovative artistic mix.

As for the play of “Citadel Man”, produced by the National Theater, it deals with the story of Mohammed Ali’s assumption of the rule of Egypt, reviewing many events that accompanied that period.

The play stars Tawfiq Abdul Hamid, Zainab Ismail, Ashraf Tolba, Mahmoud Imam, Hanadi, Shadi el-Dali, Sarah Adel, Basma Salama, Nasser Shaheen, Mahmoud Zaki, Magda Mounir, Moataz el-Swaify, Fatima Mohammed Ali, Tariq Kamel, Yasser Ali Maher, Ashraf Shoukry , Yahya Mahmoud and Alfred Kamal.
