Phoenix: 'Run to the rescue with love and peace will follow'

CAIRO - 10 February 2020: ''Joker'' star Joaquin Phoenix has won the Academy Award for best actor.


“I think the greatest gift that acting has given me and many of us in this room is the opportunity to use our voice for the voiceless,” Phoenix said directly after he received his trophy.

In his speech Phoenix asked human beings to stop fighting each other and to stop plundering our natural resources.

''“I think whether we’re talking about gender and equality, or racism, or queer rights, or indigenous rights, or animal rights, we’re talking about the fight against injustice,” Phoenix continued, “We’re talking about the fight against the belief that one people, one race, one gender, one species has the right to dominate, control, use, and exploit another with impunity.”

“I'm feeling so much gratitude right now” ,then he went on to talk about his beliefs as a vegan.
