CAIRO - 7 February 2020: Superstar Amr Diab will perform on Friday, February 7 at Jeddah.
Diab performed on January 24 at Dubai Media City Amphitheater. He participated in MDL Beast Festival that kicked off on December 19-21 in Saudi Arabia.
Diab recently was featured by Spotify on a massive billboard in the heart of Times Square with the tagline “This is Amr Diab”.
In 2016, Diab became the first Egyptian and Arab artist to break a Guinness World Record for the number of World Music Awards he achieved.
It is worth mentioning that Diab performed live in Jeddah at King Abdullah Sports City on June 10 and performed a massive concert recently at Riyadh season.
Also, Diab, famed British singer James Arthur and famed Turkish record producer Mahmut Oran performed in the grand ceremony of the American University in Cairo's centennial anniversary.
Diab was the most listened to singer on Anghami in 2018; his album “Kol Hayati” (All My Life) was listened to a record number of times. Diab adopted a new marketing strategy to promote his albums where he releases a new song almost every week.
Diab collaborated with several poets, composers and distributers in his recent albums, including Tarek Madkour, Ayman Bahgat Amar, Nader Hamdy, Amr Mostafa and Ahmed el-Malky, Tamer Hussein among others.
He is a Guinness world record holder, best selling middle eastern artist, 7 times winner of world music awards, 5 platinum record awards and 6 African music awards.
Born in 1961 in Port Said, Diab has risen to fame over the past two decades in the Arab world and continues to break sale records, according to a BBC report and his official Facebook page.
His most famous album, “Nour el-Ain” (Our Eyes Beam), brought him international recognition and earned him the title of “The Father of Mediterranean Music” for his style of blending Egyptian and western rhythms.
The mega star, who founded the record company Mediterranean Music, had his songs translated into seven different languages.
Diab received a Lifetime Achievement Award at the Big Apple Music Awards in 2009. At the 2014 World Music Awards, Diab was also awarded Best Egyptian Artist, Best Male Arab Artist and World Best Arab Male Artist Voted Online.
Diab’s first album, “Ya Tareeq” (The Path), was released in 1983. His album “Meaddy El-Nas” (Surpassing People) was released in July 2017, following a major viral promotion campaign across Cairo sponsored by Egypt Linx.
Diab has established himself as an acclaimed recording artist in most Mediterranean countries. According to a research by Michael Frishkopf, he has created his style termed as "Mediterranean Music", a blend of Western and Egyptian rhythms.
