CAIRO - 8 January 2020: The Egyptian General Book Organization will hold a press conference to announce the details of the Cairo International Book Fair at its 51st edition, on Jan. 12, in Al-Manara Center in the Fifth Settlement District at 12 pm.
The press conference will be held in the presence of Minister of Culture Inas Abdel Dayem, Chairman of the General Egyptian Book Organization Haitham al-Haj Ali, President of the Egyptian Publishers Association Said Abdo and Mohamed Rashad the President of the Arab Publishers Union.
The Cairo International Book Fair is scheduled to start its 51st edition on Jan. 22 and running to Feb. 4, under the slogan “Egypt Africa .. A Culture of Diversity”. Senegal will be the book fair’s guest of honor, while late writer Gamal Hemdan will be the fair’s personality.
It is worth mentioning that the General Egyptian Book Organization, in cooperation with Dar al-Hilal, published the encyclopedia "The Personality of Egypt" by the great late writer Gamal Hemdan, the main personality of the Cairo International Book Fair in its 51st edition. The encyclopedia consists of 4 parts. The encyclopedia will be exhibited in the book fair’s family library.
The General Egyptian Book Organization will also cooperate with Dar al-Hilal to publish 8 books for the late writer Hemdan, including “Colonization and liberation strategy” and “Colonization and liberation in the Arab world”.
It is worth noting that the General Egyptian Book Organization has closed the door for applying for the First Book Award for youth under the age of 35, valued at L.E 5,000, and The Heritage Award which is awarded by the Book Authority equally with Dar al-Ketab, the awards for the Best Translated Book and the Best Translated Book for Children, which is awarded by the General Egyptian Book Organization equally with the National Center for Translation, in addition to the award for the Best Publishing House which is granted equally by General Egyptian Book Organization and the Egyptian Publishers Association.
