CAIRO - 8 January 2020: The first edition of MEME (Middle East Music Event) kicks off on Jan. 9 and runs until Jan. 11 in Zed Park with the participation of a group of distinguished Egyptian voices.
A number of underground music bands and singers will participate in the festival’s first edition.
The activities of the first day include concerts for the Egyptian bands Hawas and Massar Egbari and for the Jordanian bands Akher Zapheer and Autostrad. The first day of the festival will also present a concert for Egyptian singer Balqeis and Swedish band Tarabband.
Concerts for the Egyptian bands Do’Souqa, Wust el-Balad, Sharmoofers, and Lekhfa as well as Egyptian rapper Marwan Pablo will stage on the second day. This is in addition to concerts for the Jordanian bands Jadal and Ayloul.
During the third and last day of the festival, the Nubian band High Dam will perform, in addition to Almena, Shabjdeed and Al Nather, Kahareb and Dina el-Wedidi and Jordanian star Aziz Maraka.
It is worth noting that the Egyptian band Sharmoofers has been recently granted the English Boisdale Music Award for Best International Group presented by the international British musician, artist and broadcaster Jools Holland.
Sharmoofers duo, Ahmed Baha and Mo el-Arqan, received the award during the official ceremony held in the British capital, London.
