CAIRO - 1 January 2020: The artist and former minister of culture Farouk Hosny visited the art exhibition entitled "Bahgoury .. 88 years of art" in Zamalek.

Hosny was accompanied by Bahgoury. The art exhibition is scheduled to run until January 2. The Bahgoury Art Gallery presents a variety of artworks for the artist throughout his artistic career, ranging from oil paintings, sketches, potholes and carpets.

It is noteworthy that the international artist is a satirical cartoonist. He was born in 1932 in the governorate of Qena, near a village in the outskirts of Nagaa Hammadi, famous for planting reeds and palms, called Bahgoura.

Bahgoury graduated from the Faculty of Fine Arts in Cairo, studied at the Faculty of Fine Arts in Paris, Department of Photography and worked as a cartoonist from 1953 until 1975 in the magazines of Rose Al-Youssef and Sabah Al-Khair. Bahgoury resided in Paris in 1975, before returning back to Cairo in the 1990s.

The artist presented dozens of exhibitions all over the world. He also won many awards, including the first international prize in caricature in Rome in 1985 and 1987 in addition to numerous international awards.

Bahgoury has many official holdings, including the Egyptian Museum of Modern Art in Cairo, the Musée de France in France, El-Shona Art Centre & Museums, and the Museum of Modern Art - Amman, in addition to special collections at the Egyptian Embassy, and also various holdings at the Library of Alexandria.
