The book provided by GEBO in AUC’s Book Fair - ET
CAIRO - 15 December 2019: The Egyptian General Book Organization, headed by Haitham al-Hag Ali, participates in the book fair held by the American University in Cairo.
The book fair launched on Dec. 15 on the sidelines of the third conference on Arabic and Linguistics "Heritage and Renewal".
The conference was attended by Head of the authority's central marketing department Mohammed el-Fiqi. This comes as part of the expansion plan of book fairs directed by Minister of Culture Inas Abdel Dayem for reaching all segments of society.
A group of publishers interested in the Arabic Language will also participate in the exhibition, which is set to run from Dec. 15 to 17.
The GEBO participated with the book "Lisan el-Arab" in its nine parts, and "Describing Egypt," which was reprinted in the golden jubilee of the Cairo International Book Exhibition. This is in addition to "The Book of the Seven Pillars" and other important books published by the organization.
It is noteworthy that "Lisan el Arab" by Ibn Manzoor is considered one of the most important Arabic dictionaries, if not the most important of them all, where the author relied on five important sources. Ibn Manzoor collected in his book linguistic, literary and religious materials, something that no other writer has ever done.
Ibn Manzoor’s book collected 80,000 items, and thus became one of the encyclopedic masterpieces and an important source of poetic evidence and Quranic readings, in addition to its main task as a linguistics dictionary.
