Grand ceremony celebrating Opera’s 150th anniversary to be held on Nov. 14

CAIRO - 12 November 2019: President of the Egyptian Opera House Magdy Saber said that on the occasion of the 150th anniversary of the opening of the Khedive Opera, a grand ceremony will be held at 8 pm on Thursday, Nov. 14 at the Grand Theater.

During the ceremony, the Minister of Culture Inas Abdel Dayem will honor 12 personalities of the first-generation ballet dancers of the Egyptian Opera, among others.

Saber pointed out that the celebration’s program include the screening of a documentary film about the Khedive Opera and its history, in addition to the most important artists and performances presented on its stage.

The program will also include performances by Cairo Opera Bands, Cairo Opera Ballet, Coral Acapella and Cairo Symphony Orchestra, presenting excerpts from the world's most important classical operas.
