Gov't to develop 143 villages in 1st phase of ‘Hayah Karima'

CAIRO - 5 November 2019: Prime Minister Mustafa Madbouli said on Tuesday that the government will develop 143 villages at 11 governorates in Upper Egypt within the first phase of the presidential initiative "Hayah Karima" (Decent Life).

The development will take place in Assiut, Sohag, Qena, Aswan, Beheira, New Valley, Minya, Matrouh, Luxor, Qalyubia, Dakahlia, according to Cabinet spokesperson Nader Saad.

The initiative aims at providing drinking water lines, ceilings for roofless buildings and houses, and donating blankets and furniture to at least 3million people in the governorates.

Madbouliwas assigned during the Cabinet meeting to regularly follow up the progress of work to ensure high achievement rates.

The meeting was attended by Minister of Social Solidarity GhadaWali, Minister of Manpower Mohamed Safaan, Minister of Education TarekShawky, Minister of Planning Hala el-Saeed and Finance Minister Mohamed Ma'it.

In July, during the second session of theseventh National Youth Conference, President Abdel Fatah al-Sisiissued directives to the coordinators of the initiative to finalize developing the villages.

In September, Minister of Planning, Follow-Up and Administrative Reform Saeed has said the state allocated LE6.3 billion for HayahKarima (Decent Life) presidential initiative to improve citizens' living conditions.

While inspecting El-NasChildren Hospital in Shubra El-Khayma,Saeed added that the ministry attachesgreat importanceto service projects, especially those related to education and health.

She noted that the ministry is ready to meet all the needs of the hospital, with the aim of offering the best health care services to children.

During her inspection tour, she lauded the capabilities available at the hospital, which she described as an excellent model of partnership among the civil society, the private sector and the government.
