CAIRO - 12 June 2017: The Supreme Council of Culture’s conference secretariat organized a cultural evening titled a Night in Loving Memory of Mamoun el-Shenawy on Monday.
Hatem Rabee, Secretary-General of the Supreme Council for Culture, will attend the evening. Mamoun Maamoun el-Shenawy, the writer’s son, will be speaking at the event as well as Iman Najem, Khaled Mohieddin Zayed, artist Salah el-Sharnoubi and film critic Tariq el-Shennawy.
Mamoun el-Shenawy was a prominent Egyptian writer and poet, who wrote songs for the biggest singers in Egypt such as Um Kalthoum and Abdelhalim Hafez. One of his most famous works, sung by Um Kalthoum, was titled Ansak. He was the brother of Kamal el-Shenawy, famed actor, producer and director.
