CAIRO - 22 August 2019: Two concerts will be held in Alexandria and Damanhur on August 23 at 8 p.m., as part of the events of the summer festival organized by the Opera House.
On Sayed Darwish Theater in Alexandria Opera House, singer Marwa Nagy, accompanied by the band led by maestro Alaa Yassine, will perform a concert consisting of a wide selection of Tarab compositions, in addition to the works of late “Planet of the East” Umm Kulthum.
At the same time at the Damanhour Opera Theater, Nesma Abdel Aziz will present a concert featuring a variety of international music pieces, in addition to a selection of the most popular Arabic music compositions redistributed to fit the marimba.
It is worth mentioning that Nagy performed on Aug. 21 a wide selection of her most famous hits in addition to numerous Arab heritage songs as part of Salah el Din Citadel Festival in Cairo Opera House.
In 2000, Abdel Aziz performed Hummel concerto for percussion with the Cairo Opera Orchestra in the Cairo Opera House, celebrating the 75th birthday of Bertold Hummel who was attending the concert. That made Abdel Aziz the first musician to play this concerto in Africa.
Abdel Aziz has been invited to represent Egypt in the second festival of Women Creators of the Two Seas; Mediterranean and Black Sea, which was held in Thessalonica. She was the solo percussionist of the Cairo Opera Orchestra for many years.
The marimba artist is the first Egyptian musician that has three musical video clips in which she is playing marimba and percussions. She performed several concerts in Egypt, Italy, Spain, Germany, India, Austria, Lebanon, USA, Switzerland, Dubai, Bahrain, Jordan, Qatar and France. Abdel Aziz participated in the Egyptian Festival in Canada in 2007, 2008.
In October 2015, Abdel Aziz participated in a celebration presented by the Tourism Promotion Authority to support tourism in Egypt. The event took place at Abu Simbel in Aswan.
