CAIRO - 23 July 2019: In a press statement, Naela Farouk, head of the Egyptian Television, responded to Al-Sharq channel theft for the series "Souk el-Asr" and its screening.

“The Egyptian Television will not let go of its legal right,” said Farouk, explaining that the legal affairs of the Egyptian Television will take care of the matter to preserve the ownership rights of the series.

Farouk further stressed that Al-Sharq channel defames Egypt and its government, and at the same time steals content from the Egyptian TV. She also pointed out that among all possible violations of intellectual property rights, what Al-Sharq channel is doing is considered “blunt” and “low”.

"Souk el-Asr" stars Mahmoud Yassin, Fadia Abdel Ghani, Ahmed Abdel Aziz, and Kamal Abu Raya. It is written by Mohamed Galal Abdel Ghani and directed by Hani Ismail.

"Souk el-Asr" is a social series that tells the struggle between good and evil in Egyptian society during the days of the July revolution through the character of a young man who sacrifices himself for the sake of the revolution, finding himself in conflict with the symbols of corruption and evil.
