CAIRO - 15 July 2019: Ambassador of Egypt to Canada, Ahmed Abu Zeid, participated in the opening of the second edition of the Egyptian Coptic Festival set to be held in Toronto, Canada.

The Egyptian Coptic Festival opening ceremony took place in the presence of thousands of members of the Egyptian community in Canada and the president of the Canadian Conservative Party.

The launching ceremony was also attended by the prime minister of the Government of Ontario and the Provincial Parliament and a representative of the prime minister of Canada.

Abu Zeid delivered a speech at the opening of the festival, in which he stressed the great importance of holding this festival every year, as it shows the various components of Egyptian culture, arts and civilization on the Canadian scene, highlighting the influential and effective role of the members of the Egyptian community in Canada.

The Egyptian ambassador congratulated the festival’s organizing committee on the great picture it conveyed during the festival, which reflects the value of collective action in the success of such efforts and initiatives.

Egyptian singer Hisham Abbas performed during the festival in addition to violinist Azmi Magdy and the National Folkloric Ensemble, which is set to perform in Toronto and Ottawa this week in events organized by the Egyptian Embassy in Canada and the Ministry of Culture.
