CAIRO –10 June 2017: Zahi Hawass’s history of ancient Egypt encyclopedia will be launched soon. The new encyclopedia will contain Hawass’s full publications about the history of ancient Egyptian civilization in addition to fully detailed information about the ancient kings and their families.

Hussein al-Shafei, President of the Egyptian Foundation for Culture and Science, and editor-in-chief of Russian News, (Arabic edition) discussed with Zahi Hawass, the world renown archaeologist and the former Minister of Antiquities, the mechanisms of joint cooperation for publishing Hawass’s encyclopedia.

Shafei announced that the Egyptian-Russian Foundation for Culture and Science will publish the encyclopedia in three languages: Arabic, Russian and English. Shafie stressed that this encyclopedia will represent the gist of Hawass’s thoughts, archaeological discoveries and researches for over half century. “Hawass is, in the eyes of the world, the facade of ancient Egyptian history and its great civilization,” Shafie noted.

He further explained that the first edition of the encyclopedia will be released at the next Cairo International Book Fair, January 2018.

Hawass is the author of hundreds of books in different languages. But the new encyclopedia’s mark of distinction is that it will cover all aspects of ancient Egyptian history together with updates and reviews of the latest archaeological discoveries.

Hawass, one of the most distinguished archaeologists worldwide, has many discoveries to his name. His recent discoveries include the Tombs of the Pyramid Builders and the Valley of the Golden Mummies.

Hawass also headed the team that scanned King Tutankhamun’s mummy to unravel mysteries surrounding the lives and deaths of ancient Egyptian kings.
