CAIRO - 11 June 2019: Famed actor Ahmed Abdel Aziz, president of the National Festival of Egyptian Theater, affirmed that the festival’s 12th edition will see the creation of a competition and a permanent award in playwriting named after prominent writer Lenin el-Ramli.
Abdel Aziz stressed that the goal of the award is to create a new generation of young pioneers in writing and theatrical composition. Abdel Aziz further explained that this step comes from the government’s interest in honoring the creators and appreciating Lenin el-Ramli's contributions in the field of playwriting and his artistic and literary career, which lasted for nearly half a century.
This decision came after the convention of the festival's Supreme Committee and the approval of the Ministry of Culture on the decision. The Supreme Committee of the National Festival includes a great number of Egyptian actors from different generations and disciplines in theater.
In the field of criticism, critic and writer Mohamed Bahgat, who has a lot of theatrical and critical articles, was one of the committee members.
