CAIRO - 27 May 2019: Minister of Culture Inas Abdel Dayem announced the organization of the first (founding) edition of the Cairo International Biennale for Children Art through the Fine Arts Sector, headed by Dr. Khaled Sorour.
This comes in cooperation with the Association for Art Education - Africa and the Middle East - where the higher committee is headed by Soraya Sedki and General Commissar Ahmed Hatem. The festival will be held under the slogan “My favorite place”.
Doors are open for applicants (between 4-18 years of age) until July 1, in addition to all children with special needs under 18 years of age.
Furthermore, Abdel Dayem stated that the Cairo International Biennale for Children Art is Egypt’s gift to the children of the world, pointing out that holding an international forum that brings the children to the land of one of the oldest civilizations comes in light of the faith in their creativity.
The minister further added that art is a tool for dialogue that transcends the boundaries of languages and seeks to create awareness, inculcating noble values and morals in the human conscience, especially in young generations who represent the pillars of any society. Abdel Dayem stressed that the Cairo International Biennale for Children Art has emerged as a result of the cooperation between the official entities of the state and the civil society organizations to achieve the axes of sustainable development.
For his part, the head of the Fine Arts Sector pointed out that the slogan of the founding edition of the festival "My favorite place" aims to invite the children from around the world to express their dreams, ambitions and feelings about their favorite place and other thoughts held in their imagination.
On the conditions of participation, the chairman of the Supreme Committee of the festival stated that no one should help the child in producing his/ her creative work in order to achieve the value of intellectual originality.
The general commissar said that the participation form can be obtained from the Biennale website or from the Fine Arts Sector website (https://cairoibca.com/language/en). Registration is also available at the Education Directorate of the Ministry of Education. Participants must submit a personal image and must be able to use oil colors, fluid master, pastel, water colors, inks, colored leaves, ceramic and porcelain paste, as well as digital photography. All fields of expression are allowed (drawing - photography - collage - engraving - sculpture - stereo-gram - media arts - photography).
