CAIRO - 15 May 2019: The International Museum Day is celebrated annually on May 18. On this occasion, the Egyptian Museum in Tahrir will present a collection of artifacts that shed light on ancient customs and traditions, linking them to modern day traditions.
The Egyptian Museum in Tahrir will hold this celebration under the title "The role of Museums in Maintaining Customs and Traditions" as set by the International Organization of Museums.
Director of the Egyptian Museum in Tahrir Sabah Abdel Razek explained that the selected pieces include a collection of cosmetics that were used in ancient Egypt that comprise utensils to preserve essential oils, cosmetics' spoons made of wood and stones as well as mirrors, wooden combs and cosmetic blades made of bronze.
Abdel Razek further stated that the museum will organize on May 18 free guided educational tours in the Egyptian Museum and the Children's Museum to highlight the customs and traditions of ancient Egypt.
