FILE - The beautiful saddle
CAIRO - 14May 2019: Egypt Today presents an artifact from the Islamic Era displayed in the Museum of Islamic Art in Bab al-Khalq, Cairo.
The museum hosts more than 100,000 artifacts from all branches of Islamic art in different ages. Some of the most significant artifacts include collectibles of textiles, carpets, stones, ivory, porcelain, wood, metals, glass, manuscripts, coins, ornaments and weapons.
One of the most intriguing pieces presented in the textile and carpet section is a horse saddle cover of velvet and silk. It is noteworthy that the saddle proves the value of mercy among Muslims, as Islamic art has produced many artifacts to protect and care for animals.
This saddle confirms beyond doubt the philosophy of beauty, mercy and compassion in the Islamic civilization.
