CAIRO – 15 April 2019: Famed Egyptian singer Hakim is set to perform at the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport in Alexandria on April 14.
Hakim is currently adding his final touches to several songs that he is preparing to present to the public as singles. The new songs bring back Hakim's cooperation with music distributor Islam Chipsy.
After the great success of Hakim’s song “Ala Wadaak”, Chipsy revealed that he completed the distribution of three new songs for the popular singer, set to be released as singles. Chipsy further exposed that Hakim is yet to decide on the titles of the songs.
A new video clip will also be released soon, but the details of the clip are yet to be exposed, according to music distributor Chipsy.
The much anticipated songs will re-establish a musical collaboration between Hakim and Islam Chipsy after previously distributing many of Hakim’s songs including, "Abu el-Rogola", "Am Salama" and "Ala Wadaak".
The ninth edition of Beirut International Awards Festival (BIAF) honored Hakim on June 29, 2018.
Hakim is a renowned “Sha’abi” [folk] singer in Egypt. With the help of Hamid el-Shaari, Hakim released his first album “Nazra” under the Slam Records label in 1992.
His success was immediate and propelled him to fame in Egypt. He released an album in 1994 called “Nar” which represented Egypt at the Festival des Allumées in Nantes in the same year, and obtained a nomination at the Kora Awards in 1997.
The singer collaborated with Narada Michael and Olga Tañon in 2002, James Brown in 2004 and Don Omar in 2007. He is one of the most prominent representatives of Jeel or Gil music, a synthesis of Sha'abi and Western influences.
Hakim performed at the Olympia Theater in Paris on September 23, 2017 and was the third Egyptian singer to perform on that prominent theatre after great late Egyptian singer Abdel Halim Hafez and the legendary Umm Kulthum.
