26 bands to perform in Damanhur Int. Folk Festival

CAIRO - 4 April 2019: Minister of Culture Inas Abdel-Dayem, Governor of Beheira Hisham Amna and Head of the Egyptian Opera House Magdy Saber will inaugurate the seventh session of Damanhur International Folk Festival on April 5.

The festival will run until April 11 and extends for the first time to the governorates of Cairo and Alexandria with the participation of 26 bands from 13 Arab and foreign countries.

The opening ceremony of the festival will house performances by the Sri Lankan Dance Boys, and Chinese Luangen, in addition to Hind al-Rawi, Mohammed Raouf, Gabriel Shaibi, and the grandson of Al-Rayes Metaal.

Damanhur International Folk Festival’s events will extend for nine days with the participation of 18 bands from 10 Arab and foreign countries, including Egypt, Nigeria, Indonesia, Vietnam, China, Sri Lanka, Brazil, Lebanon, Jordan and Tunisia.

The festival will honor a notable group of iconic artists such as former head of Cairo Opera House Abdel Moneim Kamel, professor of popular literature at the Academy of Arts Salah al-Rawi, late artist Al-Rayes Metaal, Abdel Sattar Selim, Egyptian singer Mohamed Raouf, young singer Hind al-Rawi and Lebanese artist Gabriel Shaybi.
