CAIRO - 31 march 2019: The South Theater Festival’s management chose the slogan "Theater against Terrorism" for the festival's fourth edition set to run from April 11-17 in Assiut sponsored by the Ministry of Culture, the Ministry of Youth and Sports and Assiut Governorate.
President of Assiut University Tarek el-Gamal agreed to sponsor the fourth edition of the festival focusing on youth of the south.
Vice President for Student Affairs and Education Shehata Ghareeb said: “We are very happy to cooperate with civil society organizations in the festival held every year in a new governorate. Fortunately, this year the festival will be held in Assiut where a number of theatrical performances will be held on the university’s theater.”
“This cooperation is based on our belief in the achievement of one particular objective, countering terrorism, especially that the South Theater Festival will be held this year under the title "Theater against Terrorism", which comes in light of most Arab countries', especially Egypt, fight against terrorism and its dark forces.” continued Ghareeb.
President of the festival critic Haitham el-Hawari announced that veteran actor Ibrahim Nasr, the son of Assiut, will be honored during the festival’s fourth edition.
Nasr said in a statement that he is very pleased with this honoring, as it is the first time he will get honored in his birthplace, stressing that when an actor is honored during his life time is a great pride.
Hawari, the festival's president, said that Ibrahim Nasr is a great actor with great values. He enriched the theater with many important comedy roles. He is due to be honored at the opening ceremony and will hold a big symposium to meet his family and loved ones in Assiut.
