'3 Daqat' to screen in Amakula International Film Festival

CAIRO - 15 March 2019: The Egyptian short film “3 Daqat” (3 Beats) is set to screen in the opening of Uganda’s oldest film festival, the Amakula International Film Festival, on March 15. The festival comes to an end on March 17.

The festival is set to kick off in Uganda’s Museum in Kampala. Several countries including France, America, Uganda, Tunisia, Switzerland, Cameroon, South Africa, Bulgaria, Kenya, Mozambique, Tanzania, Benin, Haiti, France, and South Sudan will be participating in the festival’s 12th edition.

The festival’s competitions are divided into four sections: short films, long films, student films and documentary films. The Best Film Award will be granted to one film in each of the four sections.

Starring Ibrahim el-Kady, Emad Yousry, Ahmed el-Rifa'i, Mohamed Rizk, Mohamed Thabet and Hassan el-Kilany, “3 Daqat” is written by Tamer Arafat and Marwa Amara and directed by Ahmed Qarmad.

The Amakula International Film Festival is Uganda’s oldest independent film festival that aims to contribute to a vibrant local film industry by broadening access to and developing audiences for quality African film production; inspiring local filmmakers to produce quality local films based on own stories; facilitating, presenting and promoting local film productions; and offering a professional networking platform for the filmmaking community in East Africa and beyond.
