CAIRO – 9 February 2019: Egyptian security forces arrested Egyptian actresses Mona Farouk and Shaimaa al-Haj on charges of committing a flagrant act after featuring on porn videos.
Both actresses claimed that Egyptian director Khaled Youssef shot these videos for them in 2015 in an apartment owned by him in El Mohandessin district.
Farouk and El Haga said that Youssef married both of them customary and that they obeyed all his demands to help them in their artistic career and give them roles.
Youssef is in Paris now visiting his wife and daughter who are living there said on his Instagram account that he didn’t escape as people say as he travelled to Paris before the police arrested Farouk and Al Hag adding that he will explain everything to the public very soon.
The Egyptian director and film writer is known for leading strong contributions to the cinematic scene, tackling various societal topics such as rape, political corruption, and homosexuality.
Originally a graduate of the faculty of engineering, Youssef has long been inspired by the renowned film director Youssef Shaheen.
He collaborated with Shaheen in a short drama film in 1990 called “Cairo Sparks with its People.”
Youssef later became an assistant director to Shaheen, learning all required film techniques and advice. Youssef is known for producing major cinematic hits such as “El Asafa” (The Storm).
He has won several prestigious awards such as the grand award at the Cairo International Cinema Festival, as well as the Best Prize for Best Arabic film and Best Director in the Egyptian National Cinema Festival, among others.
