Egypt Today will provide its readers on two parts the most prominent artistic and cultural events in 2018.

1- Egyptian musician Michael el Masry passed away at the age of 85.

2- The historical Italian city of Viterbo witnessed the opening of Pharaonic transcripts exhibition in the headquarters of the Papal Palace of Castel Gandolfo.

3- Bibliotheca Alexandria’s International Summer Festival kicked off on July 16.

4- The 9th edition of Beirut International Awards Festival ( BIAF) honoured the Egyptian stars Hakim and Angham on June 29.

5- Cairo Opera Ballet Company and Reda Dance Troupe participated at the 13th edition of Caffeina Festival 2018 in Viterbo, Italy.

6- Egyptian National Theatre Festival honoured writer Mahmoud Diab in its 11th round

7- The Serbian National Museum, the largest and oldest in the Balkans, convened a roundtable titled "Ancient Egypt in Serbian Society" on July 12.

8- English singer and songwriter Paul McCartney announced released his latest album titled “Egypt Station”.

7- The first session of the Arab-Chinese literature forum kicked off on June 21 in Cairo.

8- The Egyptian virtuoso musician Omar Khairat performed a dazzling concert at the Mariinsky Theatre in the cultural city of Saint Petersburg on Monday, June 18.

9- Scott Adkins (Boyka) partcipated for the first time in Egyptian cinema in “HarbKarmouz” staring the Egyptian star Amir Karara and directed by Peter Mimi.

10- Sydney, Australia, will host in 2021 the largest exhibition of King Tutankhamun, entitled "King Tut: Treasures of the Golden Pharaoh".

11- The Bibliotheca Alexandrina (BA) launched its Big Read program for the 10th consecutive year.

12- The Arab Arts Focus (AAF) event participated in the Avignon Le OFF art festival, which was held from July 8 - 24.

13- Egypt was the first Arab country selected as the head of UNESCO’s subcommittee for the 1970 treaty on the Means of Prohibiting and Preventing the Illicit.

14- The famed Syrian singer AssalaNasri performed a ladies- only concert for the first time in Saudi Arabia in Riyadh on Wednesday, June 20.

15- The Egyptian exhibition, under the theme “Robabecciah: The informal city”, ran from May 26 to November 25 at the 16th edition of the 2018 Venice Architecture Biennale.

16- The legendary Fairouz has released a new song about Gaza, entitled “Until When, God?”

17- Arab Digital Expression Foundation (ADEF) held on June 23 the Moqattam Arts and Technology Festival.

18- The famed Egyptian singer Sherine Abdel Wahab performed a ladies- only concert for the first time in Saudi Arabia at King Abdullah Sports City in Jeddah.

19- The last military wheel of King Tutankhamun was transferred to the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM) in Giza

20- Minister of Antiquities Khaled al-Anani inaugurated on Saturday, May 5, the fourth International Tutankhamun Conference.

21- To celebrate International Jazz Day on April 30, the Jazz Society of Egypt hosted a great big Jam Session at the Grand Nile Tower.

22- Minister of Culture Inas Abdel-Dayem honoured veteran actor Ezzat El-Alaily during a ceremony held by the National Center for Theater.

23- Palestinian-Jordanian writer Ibrahim Nasrallah won the 11th International Prize for Arabic Fiction on Tuesday for his novel “The Second War of the Dog”.

24- Minister of Culture Inas Abdel Dayem received on April 19 the German Jazz Music Award that went to Egyptian-German ensemble Cairo Steps.

25- The Arts-Mart Gallery held the fourth edition of ‘Artists of Tomorrow’ exhibition from Friday, April 27, to Tuesday, May 15.

26- Cairo’s Citadel hosted the third day of the International Festival for Drums and Traditional Arts.

27- The Egyptian series "Grand Hotel" has just become the first Arabic series to ever be featured on Netflix.

28- The National Arab Music Ensemble of Cairo Opera House performed for the first time two concerts in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia on April 25 and 26.

29- The second edition of Cairo Cinema Days Festival kicked off Monday, April 23.

30- Arab League Secretary General Ahmed AbulGheit inaugurated a book fair at the library of the pan-Arab organization.

31- Goethe Film Week in Egypt kicked off on April 12-19.

32- Egyptian author Ahmad al Qarmalawi was one of the winners of the 2017-2018 Zayed Book Award.

33- The 14th edition of the Alexandria International Book Fair ran from March 31 until April 9, 2018

34- 6th Cairo Contemporary Music Days ran from Apr. 14 to Apr 29 focusing on German contribution to contemporary music.


35- The second Jazz Tales Music Festival ran from Apr. 10 to Apr. 14.
