CAIRO – 27 November 2018: The seventh day of Cairo International Film Festival’s 40th round witnessed numerous events. The day started off with a lecture entitled “The Creative Role of Film Producers” presented by film producer Roshanak Behisht nedjad.

Simultaneously, a press conference was held for the members of Al-Ghad cinema contest judging committee, which consisted of German programmer and professor Cathy de Haan and Algerian scenarist/director Karim Moussaoi. Haan thanked Mohamed Hefzi, president of the CIFF, for the efforts exerted in the festival's 40th round.

Haan further thanked critic Andrew Mohsen, manager of Al-Ghad cinema, praising his choice of the participating films. Haan also commented that she is honored to participate in CIFF, which is considered one of the biggest film festivals in the region.

In the same context, Moussaoi expressed his happiness to take part in CIFF for the first time, feeling honored to be selected as a member of the judging committee for one of the festival’s contests. The Algerian scenarist/director praised the festival, describing it as one of the most significant film festivals around the world that draws global attention to Egypt.

Furthermore, “Zat Yawm” (Some day) screened at 12 p.m. in Cairo Opera House's Grand Theater and “El-Dawla ded Mandela wa’akhareen” (The state against Mandela and others) screened in the Small Theatre. Also, “Anna at the End of the World” screened in the Arts and Creativity Center.

Numerous discussion sessions and press conferences were held during the day, before Hefzy, granted Ralph Fiennes the Faten Hamama Award ahead of the screening of the film “The White Crow”.

Fiennes expressed his happiness to have been granted such an award that holds a pioneering name in the Arab cinema.

Numerous film screenings continue until 9:30 p.m.
