CAIRO – 25 November 2018: The United Nations Population Fund (UNPF) is expected to participate in the lectures on Cinema Production and its impact on societies organized by the Cairo International Film Festival (CIFF).
The lectures will mainly revolve around the importance of dramatic works in raising awareness in societies and the important role they play in combating harmful habits such as early marriage of minors and female genital mutilation that are common in Egyptian rural communities.
The UNPF selected Sandra De Castro Buffington to give the lectures during CIFF's 40th edition in Egypt.
Buffington is a woman who awakens love in the heart of humanity, moving it toward the light of the soul and peace in the world through conscious storytelling. As a global leader in social impact entertainment and pioneer in conscious media, she works to ignite transformation as a new narrative of peace worldwide.
Buffington was named one of the “Nation’s 100 Most Influential Hispanics” by PODER Hispanic magazine in 2012, “Woman Entrepreneur of the Year” by the World Film Institute in 2014, and “Honorary Maverick” by the Female Eye Film Festival in 2015.
Several workshops and discussion sessions will take place from Nov. 25 to Nov. 29, enabling several Arab and International film makers to discuss issues related to the important role dramatic works play in influencing societies.
