6 facts about Cannes best actress winner Diane Kruger

CAIRO - 30 May 2017: German actress Diane Kruger has won the prestigious best actress award at Cannes Film Festival Sunday, for her performance in the German-language drama “In the Fade.”

So here are 6 interesting facts you may not know about the German actress who became an American citizen in 2013:

1) She worked as a model for renowned labels as Yves Saint Laurent, Salvatore Ferragamo, Chanel, Christian Dior and Burberry. Before that, Diane was a representative for Germany in the annual fashion modeling event, Elite Model Look.

2) Before being an actress, Kruger was originally a ballet dancer but was forced to quit dancing due to an injury at the age of 18.

3) Kruger Lived three weeks in a mental hospital to get prepared for Frankie film, released in 2005, about the story of a model who reaches the end of her short career as a catwalk queen. She was the only actress in that film, all patients were real.

4) In 2010, Kruger was ranked at number83 as "most desirable woman" in the Ask Men list and in 2005, she was ranked at number50 on the Maxim magazine on Hot 100 women list.

5) In 2012, she was named the "Sexiest International Import" by Victoria's Secret What Is Sexy list.

6) Director Wolfgang Petersen asked her to gain 7 kilograms for Troy to appear curvier and she did.
