CAIRO - 16 November 2018: Black and White Music festival will kick off on Friday, November 16 in Family Park at Al Rehab city.
The opening ceremony of the festival will witness for the first time the participation of the most popular Egyptian bands such as Masar Egbari, Black Theama, Sharmoofers, Wust El Balad, Karakeeb, Disco Misr.
Black and White Music festival is considered the first musical carnival of its kind in Egypt, the most famous 6 Egyptian bands will perform on one stage in the longest continuous musical day that will last 12 hours under the media auspices of Youm 7.
Massr Egbari is an Egyptian rock band founded in Alexandria in 2005. Massr Egbari released their third album "Mosawamat" (Bargains) last July which brought them back to the music scene three years after releasing their album "Toqa’a w tqom" (Fall & Rise).
Black Theama was founded in 2004 by Amir Salah el-Deen, originally a member in Karisma theatrical troupe, the three-member band presents a wide range of music styles, including Nubian rhythms, reggae, hip-hop, R&B and African music. The band infuses traditional Nubian folk songs with modern beats.
Over the years, the band collaborated with many other bands and musicians such as Massar Egbari and Cairokee.
Black Theama represented Egypt in different international competitions; they were nominated at the 2013 World Music Awards for the Best Group, Best Live Act, Best Song and Best Video Clip awards for the song "Fi Belad Al-Ayy Haga".
In 2012, Ahmed Bahaa, Mohamed el-Arkan and Ezz Shahwan got together & formed Sharmoofers; since then they’ve been impacting the world’s youth with positive groovy music.
Starting off online, the band’s music has managed to reach millions, and they have more than 588,000 followers on Facebook and are growing more popular on social media.
They first performed on Bassem Youssef's “Bernameg” show in 2013 and then performed live at a concert at Al-Azhar Park in 2014.
Sharmoofers are known for using unique lyrics, far away from the traditional common lyrics fans got used to. The Egyptian band is known for their spontaneous and funny ways of performing. Sharmoofers caused a state of havoc with their latest song “Zamba” which promotes breaking the daily routine and enjoying jolly music to avoid negativity and be happy no matter what.
The band chose the name “Zamba” for their video clip. Red Indian style costumes with really shiny and bizarre colors were chosen for the clip.
Sharmoofers surprised their fans recently after releasing their first romantic song, titled “Moftaked el Habiba” (I Miss a Lover), including a video featuring famous Egyptian actress Yasmine Raeis.
The clip of "Moftaqed el-Habiba" was directed by Hady el-Bagory. Sharmoofers already won the following awards in their short career:

Wust El Balad band was founded in 1999 creating soft rock tunes, blending traditional Arabic sounds with modern and western tunes. They released successful albums such as ‘Wust El Balad’ in 2007, ‘Rubabekya’ in 2011 and ‘Karakib’ in 2014.
Wust El Balad consists of Adham al-Saeed, Hany Adel, Ahmed Omran, Ahmed Omar, Asaad Nessim, Ehab Abdel Hameed (Bob) and Mohammed Gamal al-Din (Mizo).
Karakeeb band was established in Alexandria in 2012, and released popular hits, such as Om Al Shaheed (Mother of the Martyr), and Rawa’ Balak (Calm Down).
The band has also shared the stage with a number of leading Egyptian singers. They tackle a number of political and social issues through their Pop Rock tunes intertwined in Arabic lyrics. Karakeeb comprises Alaa al-Qady, Morad Soukar, Maged Mohamed, Shrief Ghaly, and John.
Disco Misr is one of the bands remixing oriental heritage with disco and funk sounds.
