CAIRO – 19 October 2018: The 34th edition of Alexandria International Film Festival for Mediterranean Countries (AIFF) awarded veteran actress Nadia Lotfy the Bride of the Mediterranean Shield for playing a great role in enriching the Arab Cinema.
The honoring ceremony was attended by many actors and Egyptian filmmakers, including Farouk al-Fishawy, Elham Shaheen, Laila Elwy, Samiha Ayoub, Dalal Abdel Aziz, Ragaa el-Geddawy, Madiha Hamdi, Ali Abdel Khalek, and producer Mohsen Alamuddin, among many others.
The 34th Alexandria International Film Festival for Mediterranean Countries (AIFF) is an Egyptian film festival organized by the Egyptian Association of Film Writers and Critics (EAFWC).
The AIFF aims to broaden film culture and strengthen the relationship between filmmakers across the world, with special attention given to Mediterranean countries.
Alexandria International Film Festival for Mediterranean Countries honored a number of local film makers and stars in Egypt in its 34th edition that took place from Oct. 3 to 8, 2018.
The honorees are:
• Veteran artist Farouk al-Fishawy, who expects his own biography, titled "Art=Life", to be written by writer and novelist Adel Saad.
• Renowned Musician Omar Khairat; writer Kadri el-Haggar decided to prepare a documentary which analyzes the musical projects released by the veteran artist throughout his enriching career. The educational documentary will be titled “The Music Magician”.
• Film director Ahmad Yehya; veteran writer Mostafa Moharam completed a book about the director's career.
The festival’s management decided to issue 15 books within the framework of the programs and activities of the 34th edition. One of the books will be about veteran actress Nadia Lotfy.
Additionally, the death anniversaries of late actress Soad Hosny and late composer Mohamed Fawzy will also be celebrated through issuing books focusing on their careers.
