Fans perform Maher Zain's 'Al- Salam Alaik' in several languages

CAIRO - 18 October 2018: Lebanese/Swedish religious singer Maher Zain managed to reach the hearts of many fans around the world through his songs that reflect a good image of Islam.

The singer’s warm voice and religious lyrics made it easy for his songs to enter the hearts of thousands of fans worldwide, many of whom are non-Muslims. The singer usually preached morals and good ethics to youths through the lyrics of his songs.

Zain managed to create a huge fan base during the past years especially in the MENA region and the Far East of Asia, precisely in Indonesia and Malaysia. His songs on YouTube reached millions of views.

In 2012, the star launched his new song “Al-Salam Alaik” (Peace be upon you), which he composed, and was written by Salah Galal. During the past six years, the song reached a viewership of 58 million.

Additionally, hundreds of fans around the world recorded the song in their own voice, and uploaded it on YouTube, which increased the total number of views for the song.

Born in July 1981, Maher Zain is a Swedish R&B singer, songwriter and music producer of Lebanese origin. He released his first album “Thank You, Allah”, an internationally successful album produced by Awakening Records, in 2009. He released his second album “Forgive Me” in April 2012 under the same production company, and a third album “One” in 2016.

Zain's Lebanese family immigrated to Sweden when he was eight. He completed his schooling there, gaining a bachelor's degree in Aeronautical Engineering. After university, he entered the music industry in Sweden, and in 2005 linked up with the Moroccan-born Swedish producer RedOne.

When RedOne moved to New York in 2006, Zain soon followed to pursue his music career in the United States, producing for artists such as Kat DeLuna.

On returning home to Sweden, he became engaged again with his Islamic faith and hence decided to become a singer/songwriter of contemporary R&B music with a strong Muslim influence.
