CAIRO – 8 October 2018: Cairo Opera House will celebrate its 30th anniversary in a huge gala labeled “30 Years of Art and Creativity”, dedicated to late maestro Manyato, who is considered the godfather of Opera in Egypt.
The celebrations are set to take place on Oct. 10, 11 and will be attended by Minister of Culture Inas Abdel Dayem.
According to Magdy Saber, head of Cairo Opera House, over 300 artists will participate in the exuberant celebrations.
The celebrations are set to start on Wednesday, Oct. 10, at 7 p.m. in the external space surrounding the Opera House that will be decorated with huge posters of the artists attending the celebration.
Furthermore, numerous mini stages will be set where the artists perform masterpieces of the golden age for legendary late singers such as Abdel Halim Hafez, Umm Kulthum, and Mohamed Abdel Wahab.
Moreover, numerous other talent developing activities held under the supervision of artist Abdel Wahab al-Said as well as a choir for children and teenagers will be performed inside the Grand Hall.
At the beginning of the celebration, Abdel Dayem is expected to honor five influential persons that affected the artistic scene and the Opera House since its founding.
The five honorees are expected to be:
• Soprano Hassan Kamy
• Maestro Ahmad al-Saeedy
• Jazz legend Yehya Khalil
• Salah Ghobashy
