CAIRO – 4 October 2018: Veteran actor Farouk al-Fishawy revealed on Wednesday during the opening of the Alexandria Mediterranean Film Festival’s 34th edition that he has cancer.
After being honored, Fishawy said that his doctor informed him of this news, adding that he will strongly face the disease, and will deal with it as a simple headache.
“I will defeat the disease with determination and will, and next year I will be here again at the very same festival,” Feshawy told the attendees.
The opening ceremony of the 34th edition of the Alexandria Film Festival for Mediterranean Countries (AIFF) kicked off on Wednesday, October 3, at the Bibliotheca Alexandrina.
Held under the name of veteran actress Nadia Lotfy, the 34th edition’s opening ceremony was attended by many actors including Laila Elwi, Elham Shahin, and Ragaa el-Geddawy.
Alexandria International Film Festival for Mediterranean Countries announced honoring a number of local film makers and stars in Egypt in its 34th edition set to take place from Oct. 3 to 8, 2018.
The expected honorees are:
• Veteran artist Farouk al-Fishawy; who expects his own biography, titled "Art=Life", to be written by writer and novelist Adel Saad.
• Renowned Musician Omar Khairat;
Writer Kadri el-Haggar decided to prepare a documentary which analyzes the musical projects released by the veteran artist throughout his enriching career. The educational documentary will be titled “The Music Magician”.
