The Arab Theatre Festival will be held under the sponsorship of President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi.
The festival's11th edition comes in light of the theatrical development initiative launched by the Ministry of Culture and the Arab Theater Authority in 2015-2016 in Riyadh and Tunisia, aiming to enlighten and educate playwrights to develop the art of theatre in Egypt.
Moreover, the festival’s program will include numerous plays and shows representing different Arab nations. The best plays performed during 2018 will be chosen by the festival’s committee to compete for the Sultan bin Muhammad Al-Qasimi Award.
The festival's 11th edition is also expected to honor 15 local theatrical icons, and will focus on all theatrical artistic categories. A creativity conference will be held, among numerous other workshops, book discussions and photography exhibitions.
Furthermore, critical thinking sessions and press conferences will be arranged during the festival.
