Saad el-Mjarred - Egypt Today.
CAIRO – 23 September 2018: The French authorities arrested Saad el-Mjarred on Sept. 18 over rape charges filed against him on August 25.
On August 25, Mjarred was taken into prison in Saint-Tropez, Southeastern France, after a 29-year-old French girl accused him of raping her.
Mjarred was charged with rape by the French prosecutor, and was put in prison for two days.
Mjarred confirmed that the girl approved to go to his room. The singer was resealed on a €150,000 bail, his passport was withdrawn and he was asked to leave the French territory.
The decision to release him was formally challenged after prosecutors in Draganian, Southeast France, renewed his bail conditions, prompting the French judiciary to issue a new warrant to arrest him , reopening investigations in the same case.
Éric Dupond-Moretti, Mjarred's French lawyer, decided to leave the case after he doubted Mjarred’s testimony.
Consequently, Mjarred's name was officially removed from the list of the African music awards; Mjarred was set to compete for the title of the best singer in Africa in 2018.
Radio Hits, the first and most famous music radio station in Morocco, decided to ban the songs of the Moroccan singer on the radio or social media.
